Reactor Core

The Reactor Core is the central structure of Naramo Nuclear Plant V2 and the most strategically significant location in the game. Located deep within Zone B, the core houses the primary fission reactor that generates power for the East Noobia eastern industrial grid.

Access is strictly limited to Department of Energy personnel with Level 2+ clearance. Unauthorised entry is a major protocol violation in RP servers, and the presence of any non-DoE personnel near the core is considered grounds for immediate TRT response.

Radiation Hazard โ€” Zone B
Extended time near the reactor core without protective equipment is hazardous. Reactor Operations staff are trained and equipped for core proximity. Others should limit exposure time and stay behind the shielding panels.

Overview

The reactor is a pressurised design consistent with early 1960s Soviet-bloc nuclear technology, reflecting East Noobia's partnership with Korbloxia in developing the facility. The core chamber is a large, vertically-oriented room dominated by the primary reactor vessel โ€” shielded, instrumented, and connected to the coolant loops that feed the Turbine Hall.

The Control Room is adjacent to the core and provides remote monitoring and control of all reactor parameters. Direct access to the core vessel is only required for maintenance operations or emergency interventions.

Key Features

  • Primary Reactor Vessel โ€” the fission core itself; cannot be directly accessed by players but is the target of ANRO's sabotage attempts on adjacent systems
  • Coolant Feed Manifolds โ€” connect to the Coolant System; tampering here can trigger overheating
  • Instrumentation Panel โ€” local readouts of core temperature, pressure, and neutron flux; monitored by Reactor Ops
  • Emergency SCRAM Controls โ€” emergency shutdown mechanism; only senior Reactor Ops or Plant Director can authorise
  • Radiation Shielding Corridor โ€” thick concrete passage separating the core from the rest of Zone B

ANRO Threat Assessment

The Reactor Core is ANRO's primary objective. Their sabotage doctrine targets the coolant manifolds and the instrumentation panel โ€” neither requires direct access to the vessel itself, making infiltration of Zone B sufficient for a meltdown attempt.

2NIA Intelligence Note
ANRO operatives do not need to reach the reactor vessel. Coolant system sabotage is achievable from the feed manifolds in the outer Zone B corridor. Any non-DoE personnel in Zone B should be considered compromised until cleared.

Emergency Procedures

  • Coolant anomaly detected: Reactor Ops initiates secondary cooling, notifies Shift Manager
  • Unauthorised personnel in Zone B: Reactor Ops calls TRT; do not engage directly
  • Core temperature spike: Senior Reactor Ops may initiate controlled SCRAM with Director approval
  • ANRO sabotage confirmed: Full Zone B lockdown; only TRT and senior DoE may remain
  • Full meltdown imminent: Evacuation of Zone B; 2NIA notified; Director assumes emergency authority

Lore

The Naramo reactor was commissioned in 1958 with Korbloxian engineering assistance. In 1963 it runs at approximately 60% capacity โ€” the remaining headroom is a deliberate choice, providing tolerance for unexpected power demand from the eastern grid. The East Noobia state considers the reactor a symbol of technological independence; a successful ANRO meltdown would be not just a disaster, but a political catastrophe of the highest order.

Trivia

  • The reactor's design is intentionally consistent with Cold War-era pressurised water reactor aesthetics โ€” concrete, steel, green instrumentation
  • Zone B is the only zone where background radiation affects gameplay for extended stays
  • ANRO operatives have reportedly memorised the Zone B access card rotation schedule
  • The SCRAM controls are the only system in the plant requiring two simultaneous card-holders to activate โ€” a deliberate two-key safety design
